Bunny days

The pet rabbit (Clemetine) had a litter a few days ago. I have been traking their growth by weight and length.
This photo is at 2 days old.

Pteranodon

I have been wanting to make some dinosaur art for a while. I acquired a pattern for a pteranodon model and thought it would look cool out of metal. I am thinking of making a mount so it can ride in the bed of my truck.

I knew better, and that upsets me more than anything. The plan was to quickly clean the shop to make room for gate project. I throw on my sandals, run out there and move some stuff around. 2.5 ton floor jack was against the wall and was resting atop an extension cord. Thinking quietly I plan my moves. Lift and pull sharply to roll the jack over the cord, then it will roll smoothly. I execute my plan, all is well until the jack stops motion. After a quick investigation I realize my toe has blocked the intended path. Metal being much more dense than my flesh has won this battle. Putting socks on this morning was interesting.

Xena grows

The little Holstein we recently got is now 14 weeks old. She is good spirited and enjoys playing. She is even a moovie star. She even gets a little wild and starts telling cow jokes, but they are not that funny.

Dog Day

Nice weather today so I took the dogs to the pond for some exercise. In the shade the temperature was perfect. You could sit back, close your eyes, and forget life's hardships for a period. I watched Buddy (black Lab) swim in the pond, he really enjoys the simple pleasure. I was envious.

Mechanical mayhem

I have been busy helping a friend replace engine in his 94 Honda Civic. Not a fun job mainly because it is a stock replacement. We wish we were putting a high performance unit in. Maybe next time. I am finishing it up today so I will get my shop back and can start on some more projects.

New camera

I got a new digital SLR camera couple days ago. The Canon EOS 50D is quite and upgrade from the Minolta DiMAGE 7i(5MP) I was using. Higher res 15MP and loads of new features, is going to take a while to learn to use it well. I am looking forward to taking lots of photos. Until I can get a higher capacity memory card (256MB) I am stuck with only be ing to take 32 pics in JPG mode and 8 in RAW full res. I have been experimenting with the preset basic shooting options and shot this today.

Cheap pizza

I like good pizza but have a hard time spending $20+ a pie. So I usually settle for frozen or the discount pizza guy down the street. I have tried most of the brands looking for the ultimate cheap pizza. I have found a new favorite and it comes from of all places the evil Mego-Lo Mart. Sam's Choice Deli 16" Supreme pizza. Its cheap at less than $9, has a good amount of toppings, and taste pretty darn good. Bake for 16 minutes at 375 on the oven rack gets the crust just right. I tried some of the other styles they have and was not impressed. Stick with the supreme and it will be a dream.

Biblical rain

OK, maybe not to biblical proportions but we did receive a lot of rain. I heard on the radio this morning Tulsa had 22 consecutive days with rain. this was a record according to them. My yard is a swamp, the ground is so soft you sink when waling to the mail box. I am glad it has stopped for now. I prefer the dry season, give a drought any day.
I want to move to the desert.

Blackberry Wine

Searching thru the local package store's aisles of cheap wine I spotted this jug of Blackberry wine for $10. For that little of an investment I bought for a taste, if it is nasty I can use it for cooking. I was pleasantly surprised by this wine. Not too sweet, slightly on the dry side, and very sippable. I have a new favorite for a while. I may have to get these sweet cowhide koozies keep it cool.
I found a recipe for Blackberry Wine Cake I will try this weekend.

Quackers

Happy Earth Day! I try to be earth conscious in my my daily activities. I recycle most items and try to reuse everything I can find a use for. I also utilize animals to care for my lawn to reduce my use of fuel for mowing.
Some baby ducks were born a few weeks ago on the Tolly Ranch. One of them injured its leg, so we are caring for it. Here he is taking a bath in the sink.

Here's mud in your eye!

I have been neglecting the blog lately trying to stay busy with work, BLAH!To help bring in the Spring season I thought whats better than horespower, dirt, water, and total disregard for clean clothes.......Nothing! So I hosted a little off road challenge at White Water Park, that is below the Lake Keystone Dam. Just a few simple games to challenge drivers and their co-drivers. The blindfold and barrel races were very fun. We enjoyed ourselves so much I think we will go back in a few months and do it again.

Llama Cam

I found a cool website (ustream.tv)that offers live streaming for a very little investment. So I setup a webcam on the barn entrance. Now I can watch the animals do their thing live.
You can see the webcam here:

Dinner

I am feeling rather unpoetic today, I just have food on the brain. I saw a dish on the Rachel Ray show 'Cobb Pasta' and it looked really good. So I have the recipe in hand and will pick a few ingredients up on the way home. So my focus for the day is make to the store and make pasta. Everything is a blur of nothingness.

PAIN

Woke this morning with a reminder of how miserable life is.
I think of the Nietzsche quote "That which does not kill us makes us stronger". I put that in bold because it is a powerful quote and means a lot to me. When I get out of bed and the feeling of a hot poker going through my foot hits me like a 10lbs. sledge. First instinctual thought is to quit, curl up in the corner and ask 'why me'. Then I realize I have been through this and survived, I am stronger from the first experience. I persevere knowing I must put the pain aside if I want to succeed whether is psychological or physical. I have noticed the more I learn to endure the less patience I have for those who do not.

Blind leading the blind

If you live your life with blinders on its your own fault. Questioning things you see and hear is just a smart way to live. The media's purpose is not to lead you down the safest and most prosperous path. Their purpose is to make money.
You do not have to be a wolf, but you certainly do not need to be a sheep.

Winter of little discontent

So far this winter seems mild, perhaps because it has been dry. This I am happy with as winter is my least favorite season. The cold unforgiving weather combined with short daylight periods brings depressive feelings. I enjoy the outdoors exploring, enjoying nature, building things and old man winter is holding me back. I just read of an actual clinical name for these feelings seasonal affective disorder (SAD). Silly, but I guess we gotta call it something.
A couple days ago we a had a shift in the weather pattern with an unseasonably warm day. As I laid on the lake front beach feeling the warmth of the sun upon my face a calm propagates. I felt my soul warm and almost glow with anticipation for more life. It was good, I was happy. Not long after this moment of solitude the sky darkened, temperature dropped and psyche diminished to the cold hard cave it crawled out of.

First

At this moment I am creating my first entry to the Imaginative Musings blog. I have a grandiose mantra with which to construct this blog. If this plan works out, the ones who persevered with me on this journey may be greatly rewarded. The kind of reward one gets if they survive a car crash but lose their legs.
Stay tuned, more mindless drivel to come!
